In the late 19th century, Irpin experienced significant growth and transformation due to its strategic location as a railroad junction, positioning it as an industrial hub just 25 kilometers away from Kyiv. Over time, the city’s population has steadily increased and currently stands at nearly 65,000 residents. Notably, on March 24, 2022, Irpin, similar to its neighbouring town Butcha, was designated as a Hero City of Ukraine, recognizing the indomitable spirit and resilience displayed by its citizens throughout the prolonged Russian occupation. Same as in the rest of Ukraine, the inhabitants of Irpin learn to life with the situation of a country at war. (Source: Editorial)
